How does the air mill not heat up during processing

Oct 20, 2021

The kinetic energy source of material particles in the air mill is compressed gas. When the high-pressure gas accelerates and expands in the Laval nozzle, the pressure is transformed into the kinetic energy of material particles. When the particle size of the material is not uniform, the particle with smaller mass has faster speed and the particle with larger mass has slower speed. Under the action of velocity difference, the particles with different particle sizes collide, so as to homogenize the particle size; When the material particle size is relatively uniform, the high-speed jet is a typical turbulence, and its flow state is not as uniform and stable as the laminar flow, and there is violent momentum mixing in the direction of the main flow. Driven by the mixing flow, the material particles collide and rub evenly to obtain more uniform fine particles.

In general, the high-speed air flow expands and cools down. Even if friction produces a certain amount of heat, it will be taken away by the continuously entering air flow. Therefore, the temperature in the flow field is low, which makes the air flow crushing especially suitable for processing heat sensitive materials. The velocity field of high-speed turbulence is full and uniform, so the shear effect of air flow on particles is also uniform, and the particle size distribution is narrow and the particle shape is ideal.

Airflow crusher is one of the most commonly used ultra-fine grinding equipment. It is widely used in ultra-fine grinding or fine grinding of non-metallic minerals such as talc, kaolin, barite, graphite, wollastonite, zircon and other brittle materials. The product fineness can generally reach 3-45 μ m。
